Hand printed and painted ink on cotton, cut and sewn together. (This lightweight textile art hangs from a wooden rod threaded through a sleeve sewn to the back. Screw eyes at each end of the dowel hang on small nails in the wall OR from filament threaded through the eyes.) Looking for points of connection in these vibrant fabrics reminds me of the need for humans to seek out the ideas and interests of others where they can find common ground and make a connection.
Hand printed and painted ink on cotton, cut and collaged together, machine embroidered and mounted in shadow box frame. With mat and frame, it is 17"x35"x2". This is part of a series of abstract representations of trees. All fabric starts out stark white, gaining color and texture from multiple layers of ink.
17" x 10.5" textile painting (20.75" x 16.75" x 1.5" framed) Starting with white cotton, I paint and print layers of ink to create textures and colors that evoke the natural world. Using a collage and stitching process, I've made this series to celebrate trees found in our orchard.
